Statement:

I've always said I mostly draw, look at things, and make videos. But that's an understatement. That's only the surface, what I physically do.
I am drawn to the stories: The connections between things that surround us, between the things that we make, between ourselves. How we are able to build up stories out of the blue, how from every wonder, say, who lives in that house across the street? we imagine and elaborate stories; so many, so varied, that are undifferentiated from truth when it comes to a large scale. All of them, imaginary and not, lost like notes in the margins amid the books of the world's library.

I want to understand the inner structure of the communicating line: from discourse to meaning- and how variations in one affect the other-. The way a video sequence is changed to its core when added a certain kind of music or edited with other shots with a certain speed (or lack of). It intrigues me greatly how with the manipulation of this fragile audiovisual discourse, emotions and thoughts are aroused. I am not talking about the stretched truth of advertisements, but of the subtle narrative connotations we face daily in film.
By working with these associated meanings video can express ideas, give context, convey meaning, and tell stories. I intend to play with the possibilities of the montage as means of expression, and by doing that, also re considering the culture of cinema.
However, I don't feel there is a need for further recordings, no need to keep cluttering hard drives with footage freshly taken. Why create a particular shot of a grey morning when there are already so many? Just the placement of them, the decisions on the collage, are what give the meaning. It is in the connection, not in the things themselves, that the stories are drawn.

I said before that I am drawn to the stories. I also believe in drawing them. Drawing, as a tool to really look at things. Seeing things because by drawing them you finally stopped and looked properly. I hope that I will someday learn to do it without needing a pen.

Above all, what determines my interest is the need to keep learning, to know more, an unstoppable curiosity to get better at perceiving, better at telling stories, better at knowing which medium to use when; until hopefully, some day, i will be able to say without blushing that i am mostly an artist, and i mostly make art.

But for now, i can summarize all my doings in saying that
I do music for fun
photography for nostalgia
drawing for understanding
videos for need
painting for money
writings for desperation
